I am planning to get a fuji hakone pass because i will be having a day trip to hakone (I am staying in shinjuku) followed by an overnight trip to Kawaguchiko. Is my pass still valid for the highway bus to Kawaguchiko even if I used it already for the roundtrip (Shinjuku-Hakon-Shinjuku) the day before?

Yes, you're collect. If you already used the pass for the roundtrip between Shinjuku-Hakone, the pass is no longer valid for the highway bus to Kawaguchiko next day even if it is within 3 days. If you are going to Shinjuku-Hakone-Kawaguchiko-Shinjuku, then the Fuji Hakone pass is good for you. But, in your case, it may be better to get a Hakone Freepass for the round trip between Shinjuku and Hakone ( operated by Odakyu Bus ), and buy a ticket for Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko (operated by Keio Bus)separately.
