I have been living in Tokyo since I was born and it takes only 1 or 2 hours away, I have visited Kamakura just only twice or so for sightseeing.
But it's really historical place and lots of heritages will welcome you.
Wherever you walk, see, or feel, they are all from a thousand of years ago.
You can experience being Samurai with Yoroi, or you can simply vow at the shrine.
You can enjoy your beautiful meal watching the beach or the mountains, or sunset.
