Hi, pls give me advice for my itinerary as below:

Kyoto -> Takayama (stay 1 night) then next day take a day trip -> Shirawakago then -> Tokyo.

I would like to get your recommendation for the ways to travel and if I am able to minimise travelling time in any ways.

Hi there,

The fastest way to get to your destination is by train (Shinkansen).
If you’re coming from Kyoto, the best way is to take a shinkansen on the JR Tokaido Line to Nagoya (about 35 - 45 minutes) and then switch to a Hida Wide View Express train (JR Hida limited express ) that connects Nagoya and Takayama in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. If you want to save the time, taking a local train is not a good idea as it takes about twice as long!
You can take a local bus from Takayama to Shirakawago at Takayama Nohi Bus Terminal.
