If I book the bus from Hakuba to Shinjuku, how do I specify that I'd like to board at Hakuba Goryu and not Hakuba Happo. I'm thinking of taking bus no. 5552.

I think you can just get on a bus at Hakuba Goryu with the ticket between Hakuba and Shinjuku Highwaybus Terminal, as the price are the same.
